Spring Flowers

The sun is shining and the tree outside Lily Houston HQ's window is starting to blossom, which can only mean one thing: spring is almost here! We can't wait for lighter days, warmer weather, and best of all, wedding season!

One of our favourite things about spring weddings is how fresh they feel; with the world waking up and the hazy, soft colour palette nature brings, you have so many wonderful choices for your colour schemes and flowers.

Spring flowers are among our favourites, and after the rich, jewel tones of autumn and winter weddings, the light freshness of spring flowers is strikingly different and gorgeously soft. With such a delicate colour palette the classic for spring weddings, it is also always fun to inject some vibrancy into your colour scheme with an accent colour that pops (we're loving foliage backdrops and one key colour for 2018!)

With that in mind, here our some of our top picks for floral motifs at your spring weddings!

Recreate Blossom

If you ever played weddings as a little girl, you undoubtedly created floor-trailing bouquets in the springtime using sprigs of pastel coloured blossom. To recreate the look - albeit with a more grown up, polished finish - Lilacs are perfect! If you have your heart set on another colour palette, speak to your florist about adding cherry blossom to your bouquet for the delicate, trailing effect blossom creates. Cherry blossom also makes for stunning garlands for flower girls and show stopping table centrepieces!

Make an English Country Garden

Whatever you choose for your bouquet, the décor at your venue is super important too! You can create the ultimate country garden feel, whatever the weather, with the often overlooked staple; hydrangeas. Perfect for flower arches, wreaths, or simply cut in a vase as a table centrepiece, hydrangeas are the ultimate in versatile and quintessentially English flowers!

Make a statement with Magnolia

Unlike the familiar paint shade of rental properties, as a flower Magnolia certainly makes a statement. Big and bold, Magnolia can hold its own as a bouquet, as well as looking stunning with brightly coloured sprigs to tie into your colour scheme. If you're looking for a neutral palette on your Big Day, Magnolia is the flower for you!

Choose some colour

Spring flowers bring a whole host of vibrant colours. From Peonies to Tulips and Daffodils to Ranunculus, there is no shortage of dazzling, jewel-bright hues to choose from!

We can't wait to see all of our beautiful brides and their gorgeous flowers this Spring!

Love, Lily x
