Here at Lily Houston, we simply love the summer months. Besides the obvious long days, holidays, and sunshine-y drinks with the girls, you just can't beat a summer wedding. From hill tops to forests and beaches to barns there is an endless and growing list of stunning wedding locations right here in the UK.
Outdoor weddings are popular for their versatility, allowing the creativity and expression for couples to really put their stamp on their big day. From the quirky to the classic, we love them all!
There is a growing fascination for weddings in woodland and forests, and it's easy to see why; with the enchanting scenery and tranquil surroundings, it is hard to beat the feeling of being so at one with nature. Perfect when kept charmingly vintage and simple (think wooden benches, tipis adorned with wild flowers and homemade place settings) there are a whole host of venues the length and breadth of Britain which can cater to this bohemian dream.
It may not be Malibu, but unlike California we have a wide range of quirky seaside options; from cliff-edge hotels to private islands and from boats to beaches, there is something remarkable about the sound of gently crashing waves as the backdrop to your nuptials. And the best bit is, as an island there is sea all around with views to rival even the most exotic of locations.

Country Estates & Castles
Whether you're looking for regency elegance or something a little more medieval, we are certainly not lacking for country homes as wedding venues. The beauty of a real castle is that you can theme your day as closely or loosely to the venue as you please, with some brides opting for traditional Maid Marion dress and horseback, with others simply choosing a corseted gown or floral hair vine as a nod to the surroundings. Many stately homes have now been converted into luxury hotels, affording all of the luxury of cocktail bars and spas, while still allowing you to feel as though you could be marrying Aidan Turner in Poldark. Both usually allow the option of an indoor ceremony to combat the British weather and the use of the grounds for your reception, giving you best of all worlds.

Outdoor weddings in the city
Whether you opt for the less risky indoor/outdoor idea and use a roof terrace as supplementary, or go all out and embrace the elements with everything crossed, there is no denying the impact of a roof top wedding. With so many stunning skylines to choose from across the UK, this is the ideal wedding for those who like the outdoors, but love the city. Less whimsical than other outdoor weddings, getting wed atop a high-rise building is ethereal in its own right, bringing plenty of edge and drama to the proceedings. And the best bit is when your photographer manages to capture the magic sunset behind you and your new husband. The backdrop allows for styles of all eras to take centre-stage for your big day, spanning the Gatsby-esque 1920's to the strikingly contemporary.

Of course, if you want a better guarantee of glorious sunshine as you say your 'I Dos', you may want to look further afield. Our favourite European venue is tucked away down a secluded coastal path just a few miles from Dubrovnik, Croatia. Hotel More has all the benefits of a 5 star hotel but with one very special twist; brides have the unique experience of walking down the aisle through a striking natural cave, emerging to their ceremony overlooking Lapad bay, and this view:
We hope the sun shines for all of our summer brides!
