The Best Accessories for Destination Weddings

The heatwave appears to be well and truly over, and as we head into the gloomier months it seems that a lot of our couples are packing up for sunnier climes to get married on a beach!

Choosing to wed abroad is an amazing experience, but it comes with a few additional considerations; from space saving to comfort, thinking carefully about your accessories can save you some real headaches, and here are Lily Houston Design's favourite ideas for destination wedding accessories!

1. Hair Vines

Hair vines are the perfect accessory for dreamy, beachy, boho hair. Plus, not only are they lightweight and versatile, hair vines are super flexible and even the daintiest are pretty resilient so you can rest assured they will make it through a long haul flight in one piece. And most of our hair vines come in slimline boxes - perfect for stashing in your hand luggage!

2. Choose your shoes wisely!

Whether your destination wedding is on the beach, in an ancient castle, or on top of a mountain, you really want to think about your footwear!

Our gorgeous accessories designer Rachel Simpson has a destination range, especially design for our jet-setting brides, with everything from flats to wedges.

You can shop the collection here.

3. You will probably want a clutch bag - just in case!

Getting hitched abroad is such an incredible experience, but you often need more stuff. Whether it's documentation, or just the essentials (like make-up setting spray for the humidity!) you will be glad for somewhere to store it.

Bonus Tip: Choose a blue clutch for your 'Something Blue'

4. Hair Pins

Even easier to transport than hair vines, hair pins could almost fit in your pocket! Super cute and dainty, hair pins can add subtle sparkle and a boho finish to any hair-do; the perfect accessory for understated bridal looks!

5. Invest in a jacket for the chillier evenings.

Once the sun goes down, a sea breeze can be a little chilly. But don't worry, this gives you the perfect excuse to invest in a customised jacket! At Lily Houston HQ, we adore hand painted leather and denim jackets, and Bee Davies Illustration in the UK makes some absolute stunners!

If that's not your style there are so many options out there, and our designer Ivory & Co. have a beautiful range of classic and modern cover ups, perfect for more formal weddings.

You can shop Ivory & Co's range of jackets here.

If you are jetting off to a wedding this Autumn/Winter, whether it's your own or as a guest, we would love to hear your top tips for weddings abroad!
